Cameron Norrie did not believe in his victory
Before the tournament began, hardly anyone believed that the 26-year-old could be so successful. The British also did not expect it, which he said after the final match. – It means a lot to me. I am so happy that I cannot describe it – he said, quoted by atptour.com.
Later in his speech, Norrie argued that he would not believe that he could become an unexpected winner. – It was a strange game, but very important to me. I really can’t believe it. If someone told me that I would win before the tournament started, I would not believe it – he added.

As for the final clash with Basilashvili, British tennis player managed to make up for the loss arrow and breakthroughs. – At the beginning it was difficult for me to gain confidence because he made the actions short. Only the game at 5: 4 in the second set gave me faith. I made the exchanges more physical and that worked to my advantage, commented Norrie.
In recent months, the Briton has reached the tournament finals several times, but he has not been able to win in any of them. – I am very pleased with the way I have dealt with this situation. I lost a few finals this year, so it’s fun to win such a big title – he concluded.
Cameron Norrie became the first Briton in history to win the tournament BNP Paribas Open. Thanks to this, he was promoted to the 10th place in the ATP Race ranking, thus standing a chance to participate in the ending season ATP Finals.
