The Republic of Senegal is ready to host in 2021 the summit of Heads of State of the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES), according to his Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation Cheikh Oumar Anne.
“The President of the Republic of Senegal will get in touch with his colleagues so that the summit of Cams Heads of State will be held in 2021. And our country is ready to host this summit,” said Friday evening, Minister Anne.
He was speaking during the virtual presentation of the first edition of the CAMES Macky Sall Prize for Research (PMSR). Endowed with CFAF 60 million, this prize is awarded to the “Thematic Research-Health Program” (PTR-Health) of a network of young researchers under the leadership of Professor Fatou Bintou Sarr, for his study on the Covid pandemic. 19
“Senegal will take charge, each year, of the reward that accompanies this Macky Sall prize for research,” promised the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of the Republic, Cheikh Oumar Anne.
Because, in his opinion, ” Macky Sall Prize pour la Recherche will contribute in a lasting way to give substance to the pan-Africanist vision of its illustrious godfather and to support its efforts to unify Africa and to build it thanks also to the production and the diffusion of knowledge ”.
“This Prize,” he continued, “will allow teacher-researchers and researchers in the CAMES space to work in multi-country networks and to federate the various projects of the thematic research programs of CAMES (PTRC) for taking in charge of the Covid-19 pandemic ”.
