Selling well Kijang Innova Zenix, Toyota apologizes for the pivot for up to 6 months

Jakarta

Toyota Kijang Innova Zenix enthusiasts are booming in the Indonesian automotive market. The number of Vehicle Order Letters (SPK) for medium MPV cars has reached tens of thousands of units since it was launched last November 2022.

Vice President of PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM), Henry Tanoto said, the booming orders made the Innova Zenix pivot for up to half a year.

“Zenix is indeed quite enthusiastic. So we apologize because there are our consumers who have to wait up to 5-6 months, especially for the hybrid version. So we are currently working with the manufacturer on how to increase the supply of this hybrid to be able to meet the amount of demand. which is very high,” Henry said on the sidelines of the introduction of the All New Agya in South Jakarta, Monday (13/2/2023).

He continued that he had sent around 5,700 Innova Zenix Hybrid units to consumer garages. Interestingly, more than 50 percent of the most popular variants are hybrids.

“The total SPK is more than 14 thousand, of which 5,700 units were retailed. Now 70 percent are hybrids (Innova Zenix enthusiasts). 30 percent are gasoline,” he said.

Currently, the Kijang Innova Zenix trim hybrid is marketed in three variants, including G, V and Q. As for the petrol variant, it is sold in two types, namely G and V.

Regarding price, the All New Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid is sold starting at Rp. 458 million (type G), Rp. 532 million (type V), and Rp. 611 million (type Q). Meanwhile, the petrol variants start at IDR 419 million (type G) and IDR 467 million (type V).

As previously reported by detikcom, Director of External Relations of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN), Bob Azam said, consumer demand for the Innova Zenix Hybrid was beyond expectations. On the other hand, his party is trying to increase the allocation of components.

“In fact, at the beginning, 60 percent of us imagined it would be conventional. The rest would be hybrid. But now it’s actually the opposite, we really didn’t imagine,” said Bob Azam when met by media crew in South Jakarta, recently.

According to Bob, these components are magnetic and semiconductor chips. However, specifically for the chip, he claims his condition is slowly getting better day by day. He hopes that the need for other electrification components can also be fulfilled soon.

“We are struggling so that there can be more allocations (components) in Indonesia,” said Bob Azam.
