Self-employed, temporary workers, artists, …: the Walloon government announces new aid

The Walloon government finally agreed on Wednesday to extend its compensation of 5,000 euros to new sectors affected by the coronavirus crisis. An additional 285 million were added to the initial envelope of 233 million, for a total amount of 518 million euros, announced the regional executive.

Among the first measures announced, the extension of the allowance of 5,000 euros to other sectors. The bonus of € 5,000 is extended to sectors such as garage owners, performance halls, sports and leisure halls, equestrian centers and even cinemas. At the same time, a lump sum compensation of 2,500 euros will also be granted to those who saw their activity interrupted substantially in March and April and who benefited from the bridge right.

In addition, a ricochet loan of a maximum amount of 45,000 euros with a favorable rate will be provided for the self-employed and SMEs which have seen their activity cease. The research sector will be granted the sum of 25 million euros in its fight against the coronavirus.
