Player RatingsAt no time was Real Madrid’s victory over Valencia CF at risk, because the playful and strong midfield had partial absolute control. A problem child remains. The Supercopa semi-final in the REAL TOTAL individual review.

starting
Thibaut Courtois
Back to zero – nearly… For a long time, this was mainly due to the game control and rock-solid defense work of his foremen, in the final phase Thibaut Courtois himself had to defuse various long-range shots and a tricky one-on-one situation. The goal of the penalty is of course not for the Belgian, who had rushed out of his goal in the first round. REAL TOTAL grade: 2.
Daniel Carvajal
At Carvajal, you currently know what you’re getting. There was no fire at the back, although the right-back was hardly challenged – at the front, all four flanks of the Canterano found no buyers. In principle, three avoidable ball losses let 117 ball contacts fall a little under the table. Highlight: the steep pass on Valverde before 2: 0. REAL TOTAL grade: 3.
Raphaël Varane
The world champion last represented Ramos as head of defense and also remained against Valencia. Almost after five minutes with a Ramos-typical header, the 26-year-old also shone with three air duels won, nine of his ten long balls arrived. Currently as strong as it has not been for a long time – this Varane is simply an insane presence in the back four. REAL TOTAL grade: 1.5.
Sergio Ramos
An almost perfect evening in Saudi Arabia – the “almost” also remained, because Madrid Capitán caused an unfortunate penalty in injury time. In the 90 minutes before, however, Ramos had made a calm and error-free performance. More consistent than rigorous, all in all simply sovereign. Four intercepted balls and five clearing actions were top marks. REAL TOTAL grade: 2.
Ferland Mendy (up to 71st minute)
Athletics and a box of tricks are fun, but the inclined viewer with a penchant for Madridismo would still like Mendy’s more offensive effect. Only a few of the Frenchman’s advances were effective, and the Frenchman had little to do with the ball. Lets go on we can do it better. REAL TOTAL grade: 3.
Federico Valverde
Especially after the start again, some tongues certainly clicked again when fan favorite Fede Valverde equally liked due to his dedication, ingenuity and inventiveness. Gave – through detours – the template for 2: 0, failed free-standing narrowly and only hit the outside network. Some other good scenes of the all-rounder should have been played better by the team-mates. With large, extensive steps towards Mister Reliable. REAL TOTAL grade: 2.
Casemiro
Casemiro was not absolutely needed against trimmed bats, but because he played along – and that was good – Valencia did not get a chance at all. Cleaned up after several corners and also cleverly got in the way every now and then. A great tackle prevented the 1: 3, which should finally fall. REAL TOTAL grade: 2.
Toni Kroos
Trent Alexander-Arnold was 2019, Toni Kroos is 2020. The Greifswalder acted at a corner in the 15th minute with thought, but immediately circled the ball over the line himself. With good relocations and 126 ball actions, Kroos boosted the game of the Blancos over long distances in the usual manner – three key passes were also top value. Strong as always! REAL TOTAL grade: 2.
Luka Modrić (up to 77th minute)
His (numerous) siblings were in no way inferior to Kroos. Luka Modrić, for example, needed a certain start-up time in the overcrowded but never uncoordinated midfield of the Merengues, but then fitted in brilliantly and had ideas for ideas. His most beautiful was surely the round trip to the long corner of the square – equivalent to the preliminary decision. Not only Casemiro and Kroos are fully up to speed again in 2019/20.REAL TOTAL grade: 1.5.
Isco
If, yes, if Isco has his moments, he hasn’t lost anything on the bench. In the Supercopa semifinals, the filigree technician had these moments in abundance, whirled, dribbled, appeared here, appeared there and even played efficiently. In terms of radius of action and fun with the game, the Spaniard even went so far that he (unfortunately only) put a school-book header on the post. The most cumbersome Blanco achieved the 2: 0 dust-dry, 123 ball contacts (more than ever in a real jersey), the fast assist on Jović and seven dribbles were just a pleasure on Wednesday evening. This Isco can become a regular again!REAL TOTAL grade: 1.5.
Luka Jović (up to 83. minute)
One of them that won’t be this season is Luka Jović – Karim Benzema plays too well and constantly. But even in the absence of the battered guarantor, his 22-year backup was hardly convincing. Many movements seemed too lethargic, clearly falling 37 ball contacts prove the low connection to the extremely fluid game against Valencia, The Serb gave the assist to 3-0, but when you looked closer, it was also rather listless and not particularly well tempered. REAL TOTAL grade: 4.

substitute
Marcelo (from 71st minute)
Came for Mendy and wasn’t really challenged defensively. Even aggressively, the Brazilian could no longer contribute anything essential to a game that had already been decided. No rating.
James Rodríguez (from 77th minute)
Celebrated a short comeback without being able to – or having to – make big accents. No rating.
Mariano Díaz (from the 83rd minute)
For Mariano there was also no piece of the cake left, in his few moments he was obviously more dynamic than his colleague Joviæ, No rating.
Trainer
Zinedine Zidane
A little masterpiece by the French. Valencia had no order and Real’s entry into the final was never at risk. The positive overload of the midfield worked out completely, also in terms of motivation – for example in defensive work – his men did not miss anything. Jović got his chance, James made his comeback, and Mariano was also allowed to take it. And it just looked really good in a playful way. impeccable, REAL TOTAL grade: 1.
