VIVA – Asteroid is a potential threat to life in Earth. Era dinosaur is a testament to its brutality, when a mile-wide rock hit the Yucatan Peninsula 65 million years ago, they had a pretty rough time.
Even though it’s been quite a while since a major impact occurred, an impact like this could come at any time and we should be prepared.
To help prevent such a catastrophe, a pair of astronomers proposed two new strategies. First, we must limit the number of asteroid missions to minimize human-induced orbital changes. Second, we must actively position the asteroid to place it into a safe orbit over the long term.
Strategy stop-asteroids-from-killing-us-all is constantly monitoring the sky for threatening asteroids, potentially cutting Earth’s orbit.
