Hitekno.com – For scientist of Tyumen State Medical University of the Russian Ministry of Health (TyumSMU) believes that early diagnosis pathology kidney Chronic pain is possible using combined positron emission tomography and computed tomography (PET / CT).

Reported by Sputnik News, chronic kidney disease (CKD) can develop due to various diseases such as pyelonephritis, urolithiasis, polycystic disease and others, university scientists explain.

This diagnosis provokes kidney failure and cardiovascular complications.

Chronic renal failure is one of the “silent” diseases because it is difficult to detect before the final stage.

When dead cells are found in a patient’s test, the process of tissue destruction is irreversible and drugs can only slow it down. The disease is diagnosed in 10-15% of the Russian adult population.

TyumSMU researchers found that PET / CT can detect these and other dangerous kidney diseases at an early stage.

At the moment there are no complaints or changes in the urine test, but the disease has already formed at the molecular and cellular level, which is inaccessible to any of the existing diagnostic methods.

“PET / CT is high-tech imaging of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism in various organs, providing a real-time view of the molecular and cellular viability of tissues. Previously, this method was only used in diagnostic oncology. We found that it could be used to detect kidney disease at an early stage, ”said Professor Boris Berdichevsky of TyumSMU’s Department of Surgery and Urology with the endoscopy course.

“Patients are injected with labeled glucose molecules, by observing their fixation by the cellular structure of the kidney, we can see and calculate organ survival, as well as track areas of reduced metabolic activity.”

It is worth knowing that tumors love glucose and brightly light up on the radiologist’s screen, explains the specialist.

Meanwhile, even normal organs cannot guarantee the normal vitality of the human body without glucose.

Previously, doctors hadn’t noticed the difference between its capture by healthy cells and those already susceptible to the disease.

The latter is in the “network” phase. stunning“and if the problem is not identified at this stage, the organ slowly dies.
