German medical researchers think they know why the Corona vaccine from AstraZeneca in rare cases thrombosis causes. The vaccine trains the immune system in humans so that they cannot get Covid-19. But in very few cases it also activates the platelets, which can cause a thrombosis.
Researchers in Norway already had a similar theory, which has now been confirmed by a research team from the University Medical Center Greifswald. Like the Norwegian scientists, the German scientists believe that the dangerous blood clots can arise from a strong immune response.
Platelets cause blood to clot when people have a wound. In very rare cases, the vaccine causes the patients to develop antibodies through the vaccination that attach to the platelets. As a result, the blood spontaneously starts to clot while it is just inside the body. If such coagulation takes place in the brain, for example, someone dies.
It is still unclear whether this reaction is triggered directly or indirectly by the vaccine. Would be indirect because of the fever or joint pain as a result of the vaccination.
