“It’s not a wolf or a bear. Scientists and animal experts have been thoroughly confused by this,” the post on Twitter said.
The link in the post takes you to an article posted on WordPress on April 8 about an encounter between a dog and a “huge black beast” in the woods. The article is also supplemented with foggy photographs.

It quickly attracted Twitter users, who shared their theories, explanations and jokes, such as invoking werewolves, wild boars and even the so-called human bear from South Park.
Newsweek’s anti-fake news department decided to look into it further, eventually finding that the article linked two stories from two different locations in North America in 2015 and 2018.
The short video of the mysterious creature hitting the dog was shot in 2015 and has since been widely covered in the media. The video was taken by fishing guide Chris Street in northern Saskatchewan, Canada. The mysterious beast turned out to be a large, black wolf. Street also mentioned that his dog was fine.
