GERB, DPS and “Vazrazhdane” did not come to the “Keep the Change” meeting with the other formations to form a cabinet. Kiril Petkov thanked the BSP and DB for sending their priorities for incorporation into the future administration.
A priority for the PP is our country’s entry into the Eurozone and Schengen including reducing inequality. PP promises the indexation of pensions for the elderly, improvement of conditions for business in our country, the adoption of PVU laws, the adoption of the law on personal bankruptcy. The third package is the ‘Justice’ package, she stressed. The PP is inclined to accept a paper vote, but to have a machine protocol, it clearly emerged from the words of the former prime minister. No one should be above the law, no power should be unchecked, Kiril Petkov was adamant.
PP co-chairman Asen Vasilev said that today’s conversation format is not enough. Schengen and the Eurozone are the two major priority issues for our country. He wants unification on easy issues, given that here he refers to shortening the times for the adoption of the anti-corruption law. This is also a requirement under PVU. An opportunity was missed today to open the EC to the second reading, Asen Vassilev also reported. The PP wants an electoral process that does not allow manipulation by unscrupulous people. The goal is to end feudal voting and pressure voting.
Atanas Zafirov of the BSP said that there is no change in the position of the BSP regarding the electoral code. The BSP will take an active part in any talks, however, the MP explained. The left sees no hard lines. The Reds do not deviate from their priorities in the regular cabinet. These priorities had to be consensual. However, free textbooks have remained in the background. We will have to do it, said Georgi Gyokov on this matter and insisted on free medicines for children up to 14 years old. BSP wants to open the debate on the tax-free minimum. Gyokov declared preliminary support for the left, but the final decision would be given by the collegial bodies of the party.
Academician Denkov has adopted the ideas of the left as a basis for reducing inequality. However, all policies must fit within a 3% deficit.
DB’s Hristo Ivanov praised PP for his efforts. We need a government, but not just any government, but one that can move the country forward, he specified, explaining that according to him this could happen with a second mandate. The DB co-chair is disappointed that some parties have not responded. DBs focused on measures that need to be implemented within 12 months. DB insists on fiscal discipline and Eurozone entry. At the same time, measures against inequality and poverty must be taken. DB does not want to lose sight of the constitutional changes. DB sets goals in terms of security and defense, as well as overcoming the problem of a single energy supplier. For education, support should be targeted, not by giving away textbooks to children whose parents can buy a Maybach. DB wants a change in the way security services are managed to be useful to the Bulgarian state.
Georgi Samandov says he is satisfied with “Bulgarian Rise”, that at the meeting everyone agrees on the need for regular government, which solves people’s problems, especially with poverty and inequality. Schengen and the Eurozone are also a priority for BV, which is in favor of a prudent budget. The training insists on the financial decentralization of the municipalities and on measures to increase the collection. The main priority, according to Samandov, is nuclear energy. The BVs want to limit personnel offices. He insisted on a targeted state policy for the demographic crisis. I am confident from what I hear, shared Nikolay Denkov. On weekends, the PPs will continue to work on the management program.
At the end of the talks, Kiril Petkov stated that the meeting was positive. Still, he wonders why, with such clear priorities, the others didn’t come. Petkov again recalled that his government was overthrown by Ahmed Dogan, Boyko Borisov and Eleonora Mitrofanova. The change will perhaps be a little slower, a little more difficult, but we will get there, Kiril Petkov is confident.
