SCB gets Daniel Koch and hopes for games with fans from the beginning
SC Bern has become active in the transfer market. However, he didn’t sign a new player, but Daniel Koch. The recently retired «Mr. Corona »is working on a protection concept on behalf of the SCB. “We have the most competent support in the search for the best possible solutions,” wrote SCB managing director Marc Lüthi on Thursday in his blog.

Lüthi gives Bernese fans hope that the new ice hockey season will not start with ghost games in autumn: “At the moment it looks like seats will be allowed again from September.” It is in the stars whether standing room will be allowed again at the start of the 2020/21 season. “If the specifications for our games are such that we should know from all viewers where their seats are, the only thing left would be the seating of the ramp and thus the allocation of each standing room subscriber to a specific seat.”
Standing room would not be more expensive as a seat
The Bern manager is well aware of the delicate terrain he is treading with a possible temporary abolition of standing room: «I know that such a solution would not please our die-hard standing room fans. I feel the same way because we would have to throw our great standing room tradition overboard and at the same time lose a lot of places. In addition, such an exercise would cost us a lot of money. » Nevertheless, according to Lüthi, converting standing to seating would be a far better solution than having to close the famous standing ramp completely.

The SCB managing director emphasizes that this is only one possible scenario. Too much is still unclear at the moment. However, he promises those who buy a season ticket for standing room that it would not be more expensive: “For the amount paid for the standing room subscription, you would get a seat – if not a padded bucket seat.” Lüthi further assures that if the restriction is lifted, the seats will be dismantled within 48 hours.
