Saudi Arabia.. Uproar over a video of “Al-Waleed bin Talal” and the Ministry of Environment interacting

Social networking sites in Saudi Arabia were abuzz on Monday with a video clip of the Saudi prince, Al-Waleed bin Talal, inside his camp and in front of him “in semi focus”, while the Environment Ministry, of Water and Kingdom of Kingdom Agriculture hinted that there was a violation in this.

Al-Waleed bin Talal posted the video clip, which was no longer than 14 seconds, via his Twitter account on December 16, but some of the prince’s followers indicated that there had been a “violation” regarding the conservation of vegetation.

.

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture interacted with the video of Alwaleed bin Talal, stating that “showing fire” is a winter practice, and can be costly if regulations and systems aimed at preserving and develop green cover, in order to achieve the goals of ambitious national initiatives in accordance with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

I have attached a link including “violations and sanctions” for the environmental system in Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, the ministry’s “Environmental Awareness Initiative” released a brochure on “deforestation,” which it described as “unfair behavior” that affects the environment.

After that uproar, Al-Waleed bin Talal tweeted that he is “one of the biggest advocates of environmental protection and conservation.” The Saudi prince said: “We personally clean the earth with our employees, women and men,” and attached a series of videos with the post.

Al-Waleed bin Talal thanked the Kingdom’s “government agencies” for their efforts in protecting and preserving the green cover, and urged everyone to “maintain cleanliness of the parks” to achieve the goals of the Saudi Green Initiative.

Saudi Arabia criminalizes “the felling, uprooting or moving of trees, shrubs, grasses or plants in overgrown land” and this is contrary to the provisions of the environmental law, according to “The National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification“.

Saudi Arabia inflicts fines on transgressors of this system and, in the event of repetition, the penalty reaches imprisonment for a period not exceeding 10 years and a fine of not less than thirty million riyals, according to the same source.
