Satys relies on aeronautics to take off better in the United States and Germany

Once again, Satys is talking about him. Last spring, this aeronautical subcontractor bought PMA in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). At the beginning of October, he announced that he was concentrating his efforts in the aeronautics sector. This means, on the one hand, that it is reorganized internally into two entities with separate capital: Satys Aerospace provides painting, repainting, waterproofing and surface treatment of new and operated aircraft, while Satys Interiors is dedicated to the design and renovation of train interiors.

On the other hand, to consolidate its position of leader, claimed as such, in this market, the equipment manufacturer has just raised 40 million euros for its only aeronautical subsidiary, subscribed by ACE Capital Partners (subsidiary of Tikehau Capital) which alone injects 30 million euros, followed by Crédit Mutuel Equity, BPI France and Irdi Capital Investissement.

Nevertheless, Christophe Cador, the founder and current boss of the group retains his majority.

“We are starting a cycle of growth”, comments Gregory Mayeur, CEO of Satys Aerospace. “We are diversifying, we are completing the offer and we are expanding. “

200 jobs created per year until 2025

Concretely, in addition to the group’s organic growth linked to the increase in production rates, Satys plans to set up in 2022 in the southern United States, as close as possible to maintenance players (MRO). “We won’t need to take over a business,” he warns. “But, we are listening to the market. And one or more sheds should be found at a site around Texas. “

Satys Aerospace also wants to support the reorganization of Airbus aerostructures subsidiaries. In September, the European aircraft manufacturer announced the creation of Airbus Atlantic, which in 2022 will oversee its sub-assembly assembly activities in Nantes and Saint-Nazaire with those of its subsidiary Stelia Aerospace. Germany is affected by this project. Since Airbus also plans to combine its activities at Finkenwerder (Hamburg FAL) with those of Premium Aerotec. “There will be opportunities and we want to position ourselves,” says the managing director.

External growth is also one of the growth levers. “There may be potential acquisitions,” admits Mr. Mayeur. To support its development, Satys Aerospace plans to recruit 200 people per year to reinforce its 1,800 employees worldwide, of which less than 900 people are spread over the eleven French sites. Satys Aerospace expects 250 million euros of turnover in 2025, against 110 million in 2021.
