SAS pilots in Parat announce lawsuits

The conflict is taking place between SAS and their former employees, who were laid off as a result of the pandemic. They all have the right to re-employment in the company, but SAS has in the meantime established subsidiaries, where, among other things, new pilots are applied for, writes Free Trade Union Movement.

Therefore, they are now accusing SAS of breaking agreements by outsourcing parts of the work to other companies and by setting up subsidiaries to organize away from current employees.

– Absolutely reprehensible

– Our calculations show that SAS now outsources a significant, and much larger part of the flights, to other, newly established airlines. That was never the intention. As a result, our dismissed SAS colleagues will not get their jobs back. We believe this is morally completely reprehensible and totally unacceptable, says leader of the SAS pilots Jan Levi Skogvang in one press release.

Among other things, Skogvang believes that SAS has established the subsidiaries SAS Connect and SAS Link to try to organize itself away from agreements entered into in order to get rid of employees who would otherwise be entitled to re-employment after the pandemic.

– Important for all SAS employees

It is the trade union Parat that promotes the lawsuit, and the leader of the cabin crew, Martinius Røkkum in SAS, says they fully support their colleagues in the cockpit.

– This battle applies equally to us cabin crew and all other SAS employees, says Røkkum.

– The case that is now being fought is important for all SAS employees, regardless of which association they are organized in and regardless of what job they currently perform, he concludes.

Rejects breach of agreement

SAS’s communications manager John Eckhoff denies that the main agreement has been broken by the establishment of, among other things, subsidiaries.

– SAS’s assessment is that the changes fall under the Main Agreement, he says to FriFagbevegelse.
