Sarah McBride, 30, will be the first-ever transgender senator

Sarah McBride won the Delaware Senate elections. This is the first time in history that a transgender person has become a state senator in the United States.

As the station points out, 30-year-old McBride will become the highest-ranking transgender representative of the American authorities.

30-year-old McBride, representing the Democratic Party, defeated Republican Steve Washington.

I have dedicated my life to the struggle for people to have a sense of dignity, peace of mind and fair opportunities – said McBride, announcing her participation in the elections.
