San Javier celebrates its San Blas festivity with cultural, religious and gastronomic proposals | Radio Cartagena

The festival of San Blas, which takes place next Monday February 3rd, will leave an intense festive weekend in the municipality of San Javier around the hermitage and the pine forest of the San Blas area, in Santiago de la Ribera. The events will begin this Saturday, February 1 with the monthly appointment “In your park or in mine”, in the park located in front of the hermitage from 11:00 am, with children’s theater and craft workshops.

Those who decide to spend the day in the pine forest will be able to taste a giant omelette in which they will be used 1200 kilos of potatoes and 600 eggss with the echoes of the “FestiBlas Rock 20”, which since 12:00 h brings together local rock bands and groups. On Sunday, February 2, the hermitage will open its doors at 10:30 to host a flower offering to the Saint. The day will pass festively in the pine forest with the “Day of the crumbs” that includes a massive tasting and the “San Blas Dj Fest” that will enliven the atmosphere from 1:00 p.m.

Monday, February 3, a public holiday in the municipality of San Javier, will begin with the pilgrimage of San Blas, declared festival of Regional Tourist Interest, whose origins date back to the 16th century, to transfer the Saint from the church of Santiago Apóstol to his hermitage in the area of ​​San Blas, carried on the shoulders of the Brotherhood of Santiago and San Blas. The rondalla and choir Santiago Apóstol will sing the huertana mass to be celebrated at the arrival of the Saint.

At the end of the religious service, the title “Rosemary of the Year” will be awarded jointly to the couple Patricio Hernández and Beatriz Gallego, owners of “La Avioneta”, one of the oldest shops in Santiago de la Ribera, in recognition of the work family of several generations in the promotion of pilgrimage of San Blas. The day will continue with a giant paella at 2:00 p.m. and the VI San Blas with mouth candy launching contest that will be held at 5:00 p.m. before the traca end of festive sounds at 6:30 p.m.

The councilor, Isidoro Miñano and the representatives of the festivities committee invite the neighbors and those who want to come to participate in the Pilgrimage and enjoy this festivities that each year attracts thousands of people and that in this edition, number 41 , coincides with the weekend.

Miñano highlighted the family nature of this festival that gathers groups of friends under the pine forest for three days, surrounded by the typical stalls where you can buy the San Blas candies and the hanging “sanblases” made of clay. A fair completes the leisure offer that will take place over the weekend in the San Blas area.
