Samyang upgrades cine lenses | CEToday

Samyang, a Korean optics brand, is launching the new VDSLR MK2 series of lenses. The company is thus expanding its VSDLR range from 2014.

According to Samyang, the new cine lenses are not only suitable for beginners, but also for professional cameramen. The company produces the series in four different focal lengths: 24 mm, 35 mm, 50 mm and 85 mm. The lenses are compatible with seven camera mounts, including Canon EF, Sony E, Nikon F, Canon M, Fuji X and MFT.

The new features of the revised VSDRL series are new aperture blades that enable a bokeh and starburst effect, weather sealing and an updated design with side dials.

The lenses should cost the following depending on the focal length:

  • F1310801102: 24mm T1.5 MK2, CHF 815.00

  • F1311001102: 35mm T1.5 MK2, CHF 691.00

  • F1311101102: 50mm T1.5 MK2, CHF 691.00

  • F1311201102: 85mm T1.5 MK2, CHF 498.00

The lenses are equally expensive for every possible type of camera. Another model is expected to come onto the market by early 2021: the VDSLR 14mm T3.1 MK2.

In April, Samyang won a TIPA Award for the best mirrorless prime wide-angle lens. You’ll find more about it here.
