Samsung’s new Galaxy Buds + are a serious rival for the Airpods

Galaxy Buds +

Samsung has just announced its line of Galaxy S20, S20 + and S20 Ultra smartphones, three phones that feature 5G capabilities, new and stylish camera technology and a new look. We already have our first impressions of all of them (spoiler: We like them so much).

But Samsung also announced the Galaxy Buds +. Fully wireless headphones are the second generation successor of the Galaxy Buds that are a significant update of last year’s model.

The new ones Samsung Galaxy Buds + They will be available this Friday and you can buy them at other retail stores on March 6, the same day as the Galaxy S20 phones.

The “plus” in the name represents among other things the battery life, which is now 11 hours. 5 more than the original Buds. The Buds + charging case also adds another 11 hours of listening, which increases the total battery life to 22 hours, more than enough for a long trip or several transfers to work or school.

If you run out of battery, a three-minute charge in the case will give you 60 minutes of playback time. You can also wirelessly charge the Buds + case, a useful feature combined with Samsung’s PowerShare charging that allows you to use your current Galaxy phone as a charging platform.

The headphones have a touch surface and provide one-touch access to Spotify. Autonomy is not the only thing that improves. There are three microphones, along with a dynamic two-way speaker tuned by AKG. It is an additional microphone and speaker compared to last year’s Galaxy Buds.

The Galaxy Buds + come in black, white, blue and red, with the headphones and the matching color case.

You can use the Galaxy Buds + with an Android or iOS device, which is not a big surprise, after the Samsung Galaxy Buds + iPhone application was published in the App Store last week, before the product was officially announced.

Last year’s Galaxy Buds was a solid competitor of Apple’s AirPods, especially for Android users, and the Galaxy Buds + will surely give the AirPods Pro competition a cheaper price. They do not have active noise cancellation but a transparency mode that lets the ambient sound pass and works very well.

You can order the Galaxy Buds + for $ 149.99 in Samsung.com as of February 14.
