Samsung’s mobile division is awaiting an audit. Bad sales of flagship smartphones are to blame

The biggest jumper of the past quarter was the Xiaomi brand, which supplies smartphones to the global market overtook Apple and arrives at the still first Samsung. In some markets (including ours), Xiaomi has already become number one, which of course does not like Samsung’s management and plans a detailed review of the operation of the mobile division.

An extensive audit awaits Samsung’s mobile division

Samsung’s internal audits are nothing new, they usually take place after four to five years, with the company evaluating the status of individual business units and implementing measures to increase efficiency. If, in the interim period of regular audits, any of the units show a crack in the business, an extraordinary review may take place, and this is happening in the mobile division.

The audit of the mobile division will take place later this month, its goal will be to find the culprit of the declining global share and lower quarterly sales. There is talk, for example, that sales of smartphones series Galaxy S21 do not meet expectations, according to the analysis Business Post are reportedly selling the worst in the history of this flag series. Estimates speak of “only” 13.5 million units sold in the first 6 months of sales, which is 26 percent less than last year Galaxy S20 and 47 percent less compared to the Galaxy S10 series.

  • Galaxy S10: 25.5 million pieces
  • Galaxy S20: 17 million pieces
  • Galaxy S21: 13.5 million units

The number of Samsung flagship products has been declining for a long time, which may be due to several factors – more fierce Chinese competition, the COVID-19 pandemic, a lack of chips and also the lengthening cycle of smartphone replacement. Samsung is also losing sales 5G smartphones, where he ranks up to 4th place behind Apple, Oppo and Vivo.

Samsung will want to reverse the unfavorable situation next week, when it will introduce new flexible smartphones from the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series.
