Samsung to Bring Select Galaxy AI Features to Older Flagship Phones and Tablets via One UI 6.1 Update

According to reliable sources from the popular tech website 9to5Google and Android Central, Samsung is set to release the highly-anticipated One UI 6.1 update next month. The update will introduce various Galaxy AI features to select older flagship phones and tablets. The news was originally shared by a Samsung representative on the company’s community forum in Korea. The Verge has reached out to Samsung for further comments.

The upcoming One UI 6.1 update will bring a range of AI features, albeit a slightly trimmed-down version, to Samsung’s flagship lineup from 2022 onwards. The devices confirmed to receive this update include the Samsung S22, S22 Plus, S22 Ultra, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, Tab S8, and Tab S8 Ultra. Each of these devices will receive the same version of Galaxy AI as the more affordable Galaxy S23 FE. However, it’s important to note that the Instant Slow-Mo feature will not be included in this release.

Galaxy AI, Samsung’s cutting-edge AI technology, has recently gained popularity among smartphone users. Instant Slow-Mo, one of the standout features, provides the ability to play videos in slow motion with a simple tap. This feature was initially introduced with the S24 line but has now also become available on S23 models. Though Instant Slow-Mo won’t be available in the upcoming update, the inclusion of other Galaxy AI features promises to enhance the user experience.

For those Samsung owners in possession of a flagship phone from 2021, Samsung has some exciting improvements in store for you. The upcoming One UI 6.1 update will bring two impressive Galaxy AI features, Circle to Search and Magic Rewrite, to devices such as the S21, S21 Plus, S21 Ultra, Flip 3, and Fold 3.
