Look for the differences! That is going to be pretty difficult.
At first glance you would not necessarily say that a Chinese (former) budget brand could compete with the most expensive, thickest Galaxy S20 from Samsung. But nothing could be further from the truth, the two devices are largely matched. The only thing to consider if you are in doubt between the two devices is whether you want to patch a few hundred extras for some small extras and / or the Samsung brand. In terms of specs, the choice hardly matters.
It is actually not possible at the moment to use Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Ultra to beat. Yes, in some areas the flagship of the flagships appears to be one underperforming, but still; tough specs for a premium price.
But like we did earlier this week already wrote, with the brand new Find X2 Pro, Oppo aims surprisingly at the same market. In fact, in terms of main specs, the two are almost one hundred percent in each other’s way.
The Galaxy S20 Ultra has a slightly larger screen but uses the same resolution (± 1% more pixels), pixel density and refresh rate. The processor and the amount of RAM (entry-level version) also exactly match.
Samsung’s flagship even has less storage space than the Oppo Find X2 Pro despite the higher price (again entry-level version). Now, the Find X2 Pro has no expandable memory, so what you see is what you get.
The Galaxy S20 Ultra does have a number of extra cameras, a considerably larger battery, a better in-display fingerprint scanner and can charge wirelessly. The Find X2 Pro, on the other hand, can be charged much faster (20 Watt extra), so that is again a small consideration.
In short, we are talking about almost the same smartphones here. Samsung requires a lot more than Oppo but then you also get a number of extras, including more zoom options, expandable memory, more cameras and a better fingerprint scanner. It is then up to everyone to determine whether that is worth a few hundred euros.
