Samsung Galaxy Book Flex α – the most affordable convertible laptop with QLED screen

At the end of last year, Samsung announced a pair of new Galaxy Book Ion and Galaxy Book Flex laptops designed to replace their Notebook 9 Pen and Notebook 9. Now, in anticipation of CES 2020, the company introduced another model with a QLED screen: Galaxy Book Flex α, which aims to provide some of the high-end Galaxy features Book at a lower price.

Like the older Galaxy Book Flex model, Alpha has a 2-in-1 aluminum case with a 13.3-inch QLED Full HD display that rotates 180 degrees. The laptop also received a more modern design, characterized by sharp corners and reduced frames.

To achieve a lower price, the Galaxy Book Flex α was deprived of some features, such as the Qi wireless charging integrated in the touchpad or the S Pen with a corresponding slot in the laptop. However, the Samsung active pen for the Galaxy Book Flex α can still be purchased separately.

In terms of hardware, the Galaxy Book Flex α will run on 10th generation Intel Core processors (models not yet specified), get a choice of 8 or 12 GB of RAM and a 256 GB or 512 GB solid state drive. Samsung also said the Galaxy Book Flex α will provide 17.5 hours of battery life and fast USB-C charging.

Although neither the recommended prices nor the release dates are known for the Galaxy Book Ion and Galaxy Book Flex (it is expected that both will appear in early 2020), Samsung said that the Galaxy Book Flex α will take the bottom position in the model range with an initial price at $ 829.99 and will be available later: in the first half of 2020.
