Samastha’s Editorial Opposes Congress Participation in Ayodhya Ram Temple Event

Kozhikode: An editorial in Samasta’s mouthpiece expressing deep displeasure with the Congress’s decision to participate in the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The stand of the Left parties that they will not participate in the program has been pointed out in the speech entitled ‘Will the Congress set foot where the church is demolished’. Samasta’s mouthpiece points out that with the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Congress will participate in the temple inauguration so as not to lose Hindu votes in North India, and if there is no rethink on the part of the Congress, the BJP will rule the country in 2024.

Yechury and D.Raja clearly stated that they will not participate in the ceremony that will destroy the religious harmony of the country. The speech also makes it clear that the country’s secular democrats are expecting that courage and stability from Sonia Gandhi and others. The soft Hindutva stance was a setback for the Congress in the elections held in three states. At least the Congress leadership should go back to the stance of keeping the secular democratic parties together. The Congress should be willing to compromise with other parties in the ‘India’ alliance instead of taking tough stances.

The Congress leadership should also show political wisdom not to repeat the soft Hindutva doctrine adopted in Gujarat and failed. At the same time, we should not lose our political vigilance to avoid falling into BJP’s trap of religiousizing the country. Else, lakhs of Dalits and religious minorities who have put their trust in that party will go to political alternatives that will give them shelter and protect their lives and beliefs, Samasta’s mouthpiece warns.
