Salzburg: Police stop moped drivers on the western motorway

Police officers stopped a moped driver on the western motorway near Salzburg-Mitte. The man said he took a wrong turn. But that did not end his need for explanation.

Mopeds have no place on the autobahn (symbol picture).

The civil patrol of the state traffic department had noticed the moped driver on the A1 in the direction of Munich. The officials piloted the driver from the highway and stopped him at the exhibition exit.

It turned out that the 33-year-old Upper Austrian had already had his driver’s license withdrawn. As a justification, he stated that he had taken the wrong turn and therefore entered the autobahn.

Furthermore, he was of the opinion that he could drive a moped without a driver’s license. The moped key was removed from the 33-year-old. He is reported to the competent authority because of several administrative offenses.
