Salzburg Pinzgauers hope for redemption against Young Bulls after recent debacle

After another debacle, Pinzgauers are hoping for a reaction against young bulls.

In the championship round of the Alps Hockey League, the Salzburg teams have so far cut their teeth against the South Tyroleans. While the Red Bull Juniors narrowly lost 3:5 (2:2, 1:1, 0:2) to Vipiteno after their opening win against Bregenzerwald on Saturday, the Zeller Eisbären suffered the next debacle. After the 2:6 against Vipiteno, the Pinzgauer lost 1:6 (1:4, 0:2, 0:0) in Ritten.

“You can lose against any of these top teams, but certainly not in the way we performed in both games this week. The team has to get back on track as quickly as possible,” says Zell’s managing director Patrick Schwarz after the undisciplined performance against dominant Rittner Buam. Schwarz doesn’t accept the loss of five regulars – Christian Jennes was also recently injured – as an excuse and announces that they will work things out. “Much more needs to come from our leading players. The games this week were unacceptable.”

Eisbären captain Hubert Berger, whose team has never scored points in Ritten, adds: “The opponent was simply better in all respects. We didn’t find our way into the game and had too few chances. We have to get that back on track quickly. ” The fifth-placed team’s next chance comes on Thursday (7:15 p.m.) away in the derby against the third-placed Young Bulls. They conceded two goals in the last ten seconds at 3:5. Head coach Teemu Levijoki said: “It’s a shame that we didn’t make it to extra time. The boys played very well.”

The women’s team Salzburg Eagles lost 0:9 in Bratislava and 1:8 in Budapest in the EWHL at the weekend.
