“We do not want to have an exception,” said the president of the Salzburg Festival, Helga Rabl-Stadler, on Sunday evening in the ORF 2 discussion program “In the center”. “Either everyone can unlock – under the priority of health – or nobody.” However, she suspects “that pretty much all politicians are second to third-level about art and culture.”
Rabl-Stadler indicated which scenarios are currently being examined at the festival in view of the corona pandemic: more generous seating on the cathedral square or in the Kollegienkirche, for example, or an exclusive arrangement of pieces without a break. However, like many others, she would like “more honesty” from politicians to clarify whether indoor events, for example, would probably not be possible until next year: “People are longing for a signal!”
Eva Blimlinger, art and culture spokeswoman for the Greens and chair of the parliamentary culture committee, sent out such a signal. Talking about the 20-square-meter rule is populist, it is more about differentiating between open-air and indoor events: “It is: open-air theater and a soccer game. Not possible: opera indoors and a volleyball match.”
Cabaret artist Viktor Gernot announced that on Monday there would be an appointment by cabaret artists with Art and Culture Secretary Ulrike Lunacek (Greens).
