Salut mistakenly gives 18 people vaccinated with Moderna a dose of AstraZeneca

  • Currently, those affected are being monitored, who have not presented any adverse effects

The Department of Health has acknowledged having mistakenly vaccinated 18 people with a second dose of AstraZeneca. The error occurred on August 15 at the vaccination point of Can Cabanyes de Badalona, when those affected had to receive a second dose of Modern Instead, they were given AstraZeneca.

Sources from the Ministry have explained to Europa Press that they have contacted the 34 people vaccinated in the time slot in question, since they know that there have been 18 incorrect doses but they do not know who of those people received the wrong dose. They claim that none of those 34 people are affected. Anyway, they are being followed up by phone.

From Salut they insist that “measures were taken to minimize possible risks” and, for example, they were offered a serological analysis after a month of that second dose.

The sources of the Ministry have called it an “isolated case within a vaccination plan in which more than 10 million doses have been administered.” And they have added that “at the international and state level, guidelines have been used that include the administration of two different types of vaccines without being associated with harmful effects on health.”
