Salud de NL orders the return of the mandatory masks in transport and other places

Monterrey.- Through a statement, the Secretary of Health of Nuevo León, has informed that the use of masks will again be mandatory in the following spaces:

  • nursing homes
  • rest homes
  • Day centers
  • Children’s rooms
  • Public transport
  • hospitals
  • Clinics
  • offices

This is due to the increase in cases of Covid-19 that have occurred in recent weeks in the entity and due to the December dates, the weather changes we are having, they say that it is better to take the necessary preventive measures to protect the citizens and prevent the spread of infections in Nuevo León.

Preventive actions for Covid-19 and other respiratory diseases

Likewise, they have attached a number of recommendations urging citizens to implement in this situation.

1. Keep your hands clean

Wash your hands frequently throughout the day with soap and water or a solution greater than 60% alcohol.

2. Have staff vaccinated

The Covid-19 vaccine must be received by all persons from 5 years of age, as well as the influenza vaccine in pregnant women, health personnel, the population aged 5 to 59 with a risk factor, the pediatric population and the adults 60 years of age and older.

3. Use of personal protective equipment

Use the mask correctly during activities in closed spaces, this measure is not applicable for children under 6 and for those people with disabilities who cannot use it.

4. Look for ventilated spaces

Keep doors and windows open, allowing sunlight to enter, as long as it’s safe, without risking extreme temperatures.

5. Early detection of cases and actions to reduce the spread

In case of the presentation of any symptoms that could be Covid-19 or some other respiratory disease, the unit must allow and do the following:

  • Give an isolation period of 7 days after presenting symptoms, this in case of positivity for the virus.
  • If a person has had direct contact with an infected person, they should be isolated for at least 5 days, this is to ensure they do not start with symptoms.
  • In case of a positive test for Covid-19, influenza or any other respiratory disease, the institution or agency must be notified in order to carry out the corresponding process in a timely manner.
