The Norwegian Football Association informs that Ulrik Saltnes is banned in two league games.
Ulrik Saltnes put his knee in the back of a lying Kevin Kabran after the Swede pulled down the Bodø / Glimt captain.
Saltnes will play Sunday’s cup final against Molde, but the upcoming league matches against Lillestrøm and Tromsø will be canceled.
– According to the regulations, it is the case that actions in series are zoned in series, while actions in cup are zoned in cup. I have registered that not everyone has known it, but that has always been the case, explains the leader of the disciplinary committee, Eirik Lindstrøm, to TV 2.
The disciplinary committee believes that the action – which is described as a “violent behavior” – would have given Rednes a red card if the judges had seen it.
The disciplinary committee writes that the starting point for such actions will normally be three to six matches, but that there will be too strict a reaction.
– The disciplinary committee assumes that Saltnes’ knee hits the opponent in the back with moderate force, and that the potential for injury as a result of the action is limited. The action is both deliberate and unacceptable, and should therefore be sanctioned, but it is also in the lower tier for what is normally considered violent behavior, writes the Football Association.

TV 2’s football expert Jesper Mathisen believes the punishment is as expected.
– There is no doubt that he put his knee in the back of Kabran on purpose, and then you have to strike at it. Such things do not belong on a football field, and anything other than a penalty here would set a strange precedent, says Mathisen.
