Saint-Gilles. Residents invited to reflect on the participatory budget

The municipality is implementing a participatory budget with a file submission this year, for a concrete realization in 2023.

Thomas Le Saulnier elected in charge of youth and citizenship explains that this participatory budget is a tool for participatory democracy, expression and decision-making by citizens. It allows residents to be actors in public decisions by proposing projects for their municipality and deciding on them through voting. The objective is therefore to promote initiatives shared and carried by the inhabitants themselves, and to devote part of the municipal budget to them.

Each Saint-Gillois (over 9 years old) can propose their idea for the municipality. Only one project per person is allowed. “It must be an investment project of general interest”, specifies the chosen one. This can concern culture, the environment, living together, citizenship, the development of public spaces, solidarity, activities promoting intergenerational relations, etc.

In order to explain and present this participatory budget in more detail, the municipality is offering two meetings, one in the form of a meeting, tomorrow, at 6:30 p.m., at the Sabot d’Or, Marie-Noël room, the other in the form of an informal meeting point on the market, Saturday April 16, from 9 am. Thomas Le Saulnier will be present to present and answer questions from residents.
