Following thecollapse of one ceiling in a class on Thursday, May 19, 2022, the Jeanne d’Albret high school at Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Yvelines) had to close its doors as a security measure and to allow, on Monday, May 23, an expert firm to analyze the situation.
These are the conclusions of this firm, made at the end of the day on Monday, which made it possible to confirm the reopening of the school on Tuesday, May 24.
Verification of all ceilings
“A verification of all the ceiling structures of all our classrooms was carried out today by a specialized design office. This verification confirmed that buildings 1, 2 and 3 as well as building 5 and the 4th floor of building 4 have structures that are not identical to those of the rest of building 4 where the fall of part of the ceiling. »
According to the principal, it was therefore possible to reopen “safely” the buildings in which the ceilings are different from the one that collapsed.

Thus, if the reopening took place on Tuesday 24, it was done with some adjustments.
Monday evening, Catherine Mary, the principal, sent a message to explain that the new organization of her establishment had to be done without half board due to the closure of building 4.
The refectory of building 4 closed
“The large refectory, located on the ground floor of building 4, must remain closed until the end of classes, just as the rooms on floors 1, 2 and 3 of building 4 will be closed… Half board cannot be ensured neither for staff nor for pupils or students: we are looking for solutions for internal students from next week. The boarding school is partially open for 2nd year Prepas who wish to sleep there but who will organize lunch and dinner outside. »
Faced with the closure of building 4, the management of the school had to redeploy all the courses that usually took place there in other places.
All available rooms used
“We used absolutely all the rooms available, including the computer rooms, homework rooms, classrooms in the science prefabs, and rooms at the boarding school and at GRETA. »
The headmistress also indicated that the school remained well the examination center for the baccalaureate and that all the tests would take place on site.
