Jeddah (© 2023 Afriquinfos)- The Saudi Pro League has just made a new big move by offering the Senegalese international Sadio Mané. The 2022 African Champion joins the club of Al-Nassr and C. Ronaldo for an envelope estimated at 30 million euros.
The number of celebrities per square meter is now dizzying in the Saudi Arabian championship. After the Golden Balls Karim Benzema (2022) and Cristiano Ronaldo (2008, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017), the African Champions 2022, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, the Ivorian Seko Fofana, the Frenchman N’Golo Kanté, the Algerian Riyad Mahrez or the Brazilian Firminho, the Saudi Pro League welcomes another pretty name in world football.
Sadio Mané, African champion 2022, 2nd in the Ballon d’Or 2022 and winner of the Champions League with Liverpool in 2019, is now a player for the Al-Nassr club. At 30, the Senegalese star signs for three seasons for emoluments estimated at 22 million euros per year, plus 10 million euros in possible bonuses which could be paid to him depending on the results of the Saudi club. The former Liverpool player leaves Bayern where he could never win, just a year after his arrival.
For the leaders of the Bavarian club, the departure of Sadio Mané is almost a relief, as the last few months have been tense, due to the player’s lack of efficiency and his difficult integration into the locker room. “Obviously it’s something that we haven’t exploited to its full potential, which is my job and my responsibility, but in this particular situation it was the best solution to untie the knot.” said Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel.
The player meanwhile leaves the German club with a touch of disappointment: “QLeaving Bayern hurts me, I wish I had a different ending“. It is a new page in his career which therefore opens for the Senegalese international in the Saudi championship.
