Ryvendir “Loremaster” – nra.lv

This Saturday, June 11, within the festival “Sword and Lemess”, their digitally released album “Loremaster” will be presented by Liepaja “folk / melodic death metal” (at least they position themselves) “Ryvendir” – it will probably be quite powerful, because exactly This year, the group demonstrated themselves last year by performing at the mini-festival “Bruzis” on the Suntaži side.

True, the new album is a bit strange – in April 2020, the band already released a record with a similar title “The Loremaster”, only it was an EP or a mini-album with four songs. All four are also included in the full version of the album – “The Story Of Eanok”, “The Realm Of Ryvendir”, “Shadow Of The Flame” and “A Burning Farewell”, so only five songs have been released again in two years… Well, it is, after all, what Ryvendir does, what they consider to be an album, how it is applied for, and what pieces it includes. There is hardly much information about this work, except that it was recorded in “KS Records” (so with Karl Steinman). “Ryvendir” consists of Yegor Stepanov (vocals), Dmitry Gavrilov (guitar), Viktor Babijs (guitar), Aigars Freimanis (bass) and Andris Pūķis (drums).

PAR. The biggest strength of “Ryvendir”, as already mentioned, is the “live” performances, in which the vocalist makes the audience forget thoroughly and from the heart, but such concerts would not be possible without the material played in them – here it is! “Loremaster” can be heard in one breath, but there is one piece on the common metal background that makes it especially dry – “Warmonger”. In general, there is no fault – strong, powerful and energetic, as it should be in metal music.

AGAINST. The strangeness of the album continues with the style announced by “Ryvendir” – the “folk / melodic death” style is actually matched only by a few pieces with the only song in the forefront of “Pagan Rage”, but for the most part this sound material rather corresponds to the metal choir. In addition, ideologically not too rich.
