Ryanair is set to release significantly less than the reported 3,000 people

Irish low-cost airline Ryanair is set to lay off significantly fewer than previously reported 3,000 people. Most staff agreed to lower wages and other work organizations that forced the effects of covid-19. Neal McMahon, the company’s chief operating officer, said this on Friday, according to Reuters.

According to McMahon, 97 percent of pilots and over 90 percent of flight crew members agreed with wage cuts of up to 20 percent. The largest European low-cost airlines agreed on new pay conditions with Spanish pilots on Thursday. Agreements remain to be negotiated with Belgian pilots and cabin crew in Italy and Germany.

The British competitor easyJet confirmed this week that it will say goodbye to up to 670 employees so far. The company originally planned to lay off 4,500 people, but even that final figure is likely to be lower due to part-time and unpaid leave agreements, Reuters reported.

IAG-owned British Airways said in April that it would have to cut up to 12,000 jobs. He employs a total of 42,000 people.
