RWDM (1B) partners with American investor Crystal Palace | 1B Pro League

Dailly breathed new life into the former glory name RWDM in 2014 and climbed up to the second professional level with the club from the 4th class. But it was time for a new step. Dailly found the ideal partner in John Textor to ensure the future of the club. The American becomes the majority shareholder, Dailly remains a minority shareholder.

“Thanks to this investment, RWDM can continue its professionalization and provide itself with the means to realize its future ambitions.” Those ambitions lie in sports, but also in infrastructure and the youth academy.

Textor made a fortune in the film and technology business. He bought in to Crystal Palace last summer and is currently also negotiating with the Brazilian tradition club Botafogo.

Dailly welcomes him with open arms: “We are very much looking forward to working with Mr Textor, who has a huge passion for football, for the development of young talent and the RWDM Academy.” Together with Textor and everyone else involved, the club wants to “make history in the near future”.

It is not immediately clear how big Textor’s input will be. But it is yet another Belgian professional club with a foreign investor. More than half of our professional clubs are in foreign hands. Deinze, the 4th in 1B, announced last week that it will partner with a Singaporean investment group.
