Reinika remembers that she had another date that day, but she was afraid that she had to travel far away from Riga – to Kolkasrags.

“So I found a reason to cancel the date, my friend in Jūrmala had a bar opening, and on the way back I met Jānis,” reveals Rūta, who met her husband in the back seat of a friend’s car.

True, Ruth did not initially recognize the famous sailor. “That’s how we started talking that night, we still went to the bar, we chatted all night, but I don’t think about it any further, because I have a lot of male friends, that’s a normal situation for me.
