Russians spend up to 8 hours on weekends watching TV. Reedus

The South Korean company Samsung has conducted a study of the Russian TV market. It showed that the average Russian spends up to 8 hours a day watching TV.

According to Samsung, for most Russians, TV is an integral part of everyday life. Many families install 2 or 3 devices at home and use most of their free time. On average, Russians spend 4.5 hours watching TV on weekdays and up to 7-8 hours on weekends.

The company believes that devices with QLED matrices instead of OLED are suitable for such a long TV viewing, since they do not use organic materials. OLED matrixes, in turn, have several advantages in the form of high contrast, rich color reproduction and the display of the correct black color, but such displays are prone to fading, which is why their life span is shorter.

According to the study, almost 100% of premium TV users (more than 90,000 rubles) watch Smart TV. This is due to the fact that they use paid subscriptions to streaming services and online movie theaters. The average user turns on Smart TV 4-5 times a week.

Samsung claims that Russians do not like to watch TV alone, such only 12%. Most people watch TV with relatives or partners – 62% of them. With children, 38% of Russians watch TV.

Two-thirds of Russians use TVs for games and watching their own content. For this, 68% of respondents connect a smartphone, laptop, game console and other devices to the TV. In the premium segment, the frequency of using additional devices with a TV reaches 88%.
