“Russian Troops Destroy Last Ukrainian Warship in Port of Odessa”

MOSCOW – Russian troops have destroyed the last Ukrainian warship in the port of Odessa. The Russian Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) revealed this news on Wednesday (31/5/2023).

“On May 29, as a result of an attack by high-precision weapons of the Russian aerospace forces on the port of Odessa, the last warship of the Ukrainian navy, Yuri Olefirenko, was destroyed,” the statement said.

The battleship Yuri Olefirenko is classified as a corvette and is in service with the Ukrainian Navy.

The warship was built in the late 1990s in Russia, but was transferred to Ukraine after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

The ship has undergone several modernizations over the years, including a major overhaul in 2016.

“The most intense fighting is taking place in the Avdeevka area towards Donetsk,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The Russian Ministry of Defense added that Ukraine has lost more than 200 soldiers here over the past few days.

“In the Donetsk direction, the most intense fighting took place in the residential area of ​​Avdeevka,” the ministry said.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Kiev lost more than 200 Ukrainian troops, three armored fighting vehicles, 12 vehicles and a D-30 howitzer towards Donetsk over the last 24 hours.
