Russian tour operators began to cancel July tours abroad

Due to the uncertainty with the dates of lifting the restrictions introduced due to the coronavirus, Russian operators change their plans and cancel tours with departures in July, informs industry portal “Vestnik ATOR”.

“Tour operators do not have high hopes for the resumption of international tourism in the coming month, do not want to take risks, and therefore cancel tours with flights in July,” the statement said. The cancellation of tours has already been reported by ANEX Tour, PEGAS Touristik, TEZ Tour, Coral Travel and Intourist. Not all tours have been canceled yet. Some of them cancel vouchers with dates until the middle of the month, but most with departures until the end of July. Operators offer customers to rebook them at a later date.

On March 20, Russia, due to the coronavirus pandemic, stopped foreign rail traffic, a week later passenger air service with other countries was limited. On June 8, part of the restrictions was lifted – the Russians were allowed to leave the country to work and study, as well as to take care of sick relatives living in other states. Foreigners were also allowed to enter Russia for treatment in Russian medical institutions and those who have relatives who need care here.

Earlier, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin called on Russians to abandon vacation abroad and spend it domestically. The Transport Ministry expects to resume international air transportation in July, said Transport Minister Yevgeny Dietrich.

France on June 15 lifted restrictions on communication with other European countries, but arrivals from the UK and Spain should remain in quarantine for two weeks, reported Reuters.
