The US claims that Vladimir Putin and Russia have used missiles from Kim Jong-un’s North Korea in attacks on Ukraine. Now comes the first Russian reaction.

– North Korea, with political cover from Russia and China, wants to double its illegal weapons activity in 2024, writes Wall Street Journal.
This week, Kim Jong-un visited a weapons factory, and according to the news agency Yonhap he talked about expanding the production capacity for various weapons. And a part of that will therefore go to Russia:
- – This is a significant and worrying escalation of North Korea’s support for Russia, said John Kirby of the US National Security Council.
- – There is no longer any doubt – Russia has for the first time attacked Ukraine with missiles they have received from North Korea, confirmed one of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s advisers the day after.
- A missile that hit the city of Kharkiv on January 2 is different from the missiles that have hit in the past – and not very modern, say the local authorities and believe it must be North Korean, reports Reuters.
Moscow has not officially commented on the allegations, but one of the most famous propaganda voices for the war in Ukraine, the military blogger and war correspondent Aleksandr Kots, has expressed himself in a way that suggests the Americans are right in their assumptions.
On Telegram writes Aleksandr Kots that he does not understand why this news is getting so much attention in the West and believes that the Russian reaction must be:
– A poker face and a non-committal “We use all necessary forces and means, according to the plan for the military special operation”.
President Vladimir Putin consistently calls the war in Ukraine a “special military operation”.

Kots believes that “it was not Russia that started this military trade”.
– When more than 50 countries send weapons to Ukraine, it is not so difficult to say that Pyongyang has handed over something to Moscow.
– But are we doing something illegal according to Russian legislation? No. We are not obliged to confirm or deny anything, Kots writes on Telegram.
British authorities, on the other hand, rage against the close military cooperation between Russia and North Korea.

Defense Minister Grant Shapps states that North Korea will pay a “high price” for supporting Russia, reports Politico.
– The world has turned its back on Russia, forcing Putin into humiliation by joining with North Korea to keep his illegal invasion going. In this way, Russia violates several resolutions in the Security Council and has put security at risk. This must stop now!
The use of North Korean weapons is “symptomatic of Russia’s isolation on the world stage and a sign of their desperation”, believes the British defense minister.
