Russian police raided the apartment of the arrested Navalny

The police also searched several other offices and apartments of people with ties to Navalný. Zhdanov later clarified that the raid was related to the authorities’ suspicion of violating epidemic measures.

The police also arrived at the apartment today, where Navalny’s wife Julia currently lives. According to TV Dožď, the units also got into it by breaking the door.

Shortly before, Zhdanov had released a video in which members of the security authorities are hearing the Navalna apartment, while the activist’s wife asks them to wait a quarter of an hour for her lawyer to arrive. The authorities also raided the offices of the Anti-Corruption Fund, Ždanov warned. The lawyer of the Ljubov Sobolová Fund did not miss the house search either, lawyer Vladimir Voronin informed on Twitter.

Zhdanov stated that the search in Navalny’s apartment is carried out by employees of the Ministry of the Interior on the basis of an article in the Criminal Code dealing with violations of epidemic rules that will cause or may cause a mass infection. The Ministry of the Interior previously informed that it had initiated, among other things, criminal proceedings against people who took part in unauthorized demonstrations across the country on Saturday, Interfax reported. Demonstrations for the release of Navalny in Moscow alone have attracted about 40,000 people, according to Reuters. The arrested activist himself called to them.

According to the OVD-Info server, which monitors police interventions, Russian security forces detained almost 4,000 people in connection with Saturday’s demonstrations.

The court sentenced Navalny to 30 days in prison after the activist returned to Moscow from treatment in Germany. There he recovered from poisoning by a nerve agent from a group of novices. Attempt to poison Navalny attributes Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and the FSB’s secret service, and the Kremlin denies his allegations. Russia’s Naval Service accuses Navalny of systematically violating the suspended sentence regime imposed on him for alleged embezzlement.

Oleg Navalnyj was released from prison in 2018. He received a sentence of three and a half years for alleged embezzlement. Navalny’s supporters claim that the punishment should have put pressure on Alexei’s brother and other opposition leaders. Alexei Navalny was sentenced to a suspended sentence in the same case.
