Russian offensive in Donbas to culminate in coming weeks – tsn.ua

A slow advance can provide limited advance on Donbass northeast of the E40 highway and will end with the occupation of Slavyansk or Bakhmut. The current Russian offensive is likely to culminate somewhere along the E40 in the coming weeks.

Analysts emphasize that over the past few weeks, the occupying forces have not made significant progress in the direction of Slavyansk. “The resumption of the active offensive of the occupiers after a short operational pause has not yet led to significant progress, although it is possible that the restoration of forces may bring limited success in the coming days. Russian troops are now moving with difficulty over relatively sparsely populated and open areas,” the ISW stressed. .

ISW predicts that Russian troops will encounter terrain that will be more favorable to Ukrainian defenders the closer they advance to the E40 around Slovyansk and Bakhmut. This is explained by the density of population and the development of these territories.
