Russian occupiers continue to attack Zaporozhye NPP: there are damages – UNIAN

The occupiers damaged the pumping station for domestic wastewater at the ZNPP.

The war in Ukraine and the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant:

The Zaporozhye NPP has been controlled by Russian invaders since March 4. Also under the occupiers is the satellite city of the nuclear power plant – Energodar.

During the capture of the station, the invaders turned off online monitoring in order to hide their actions from the IAEA. The European Union called on Russia to return control over the ZNPP to Ukraine.

The invaders informed the heads of structural subdivisions of the Zaporizhzhya NPP that they intended to place the nuclear power plant under the control of Rosatom from September 1.

On June 6, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Mariano Grossi, announced that his agency was preparing an expert mission to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe. According to him, Ukraine allegedly asked for such a visit. The SE NNEGC Energoatom accused Grossi of lying and stated that they did not approve of this visit.

On June 26, 2022, it became known that the occupiers preparing for battle near the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

On June 29, 2022, information appeared that the invaders were preparing serious provocation.

30 June 2022 IAEA lost touch from Zaporozhye NPP.

July 2, 2022 Energoatom restored connection between the Zaporozhye NPP and the IAEA.

August 5 Russian occupiers shelled an industrial site three times Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

Po according to EnergoatomRussian troops in Energodar fired in the direction of the Zaporozhye NPP, the enemy hit the high-voltage communication line 330 kV GRP of the ZNPP autotransformer – the Zaporizhzhya thermal power plant.

At the same time, it is noted that despite the provocations of the occupiers, the Zaporizhzhya NPP continues to operate and deliver power to the energy system of Ukraine through operating lines. In accordance with their throughput, it was decided to unload and disconnect from the network one of the operating power units of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Emissions and discharges of radioactive substances were not recorded.

On August 6, information appeared that the Russian occupiers could mine the ZNPP.

Also on August 6, it became known that one of the power units of the Zaporozhye NPP disconnected from the power grid.

On August 11, 2022, the Russian invaders repeatedly fired on Zaporozhye NPP and areas near the nuclear facility.
