Russian Informant Detained in Plot to Target Ukrainian President Zelensky

The Ukrainian Security Service “SBU” said that it had detained a Russian informant in connection with preparing a Russian strike that was going to target Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his recent visit to the Mykolaiv region.

He added that the informant was collecting intelligence about the visit on the eve of the last trip of the President of Ukraine to the Mykolaiv region, pointing out that he had obtained information about the “subversive activities of the suspects” and adopted additional security measures.

Zelensky visited the region at the end of July.

In monitoring women’s communications, the Security Management Unit has demonstrated that it also has the task of locating electronic warfare systems and warehouses with ammunition for the armed forces.

According to the investigation, the woman was a resident of Ochakov, southern Ukraine, and a former saleswoman in a military warehouse on the territory of one of the military units in the region.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine, the unnamed woman traveled around the province and photographed Ukrainian sites.

After the start of the war, the Russian and Ukrainian parties to the conflict exchanged accusations about espionage and assassination attempts, at a time when both sides seek to achieve gains, even if they were media only, in light of the delay in the final settlement of a devastating war that left huge human and material damage.
