Russian economist revealed Putin’s position on a new world war – UNIAN

A number of factors do not allow Russia to even dream of winning a world war, the expert shared his opinion.

President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin wants the spheres of control to be restored in the world, but in order to change the international system of the Russian Federation, it is necessary to win a new world war.

The head of Russia is well aware that his country will not be able to win in the global confrontation, said Russian economist, head of the Institute for Economic Analysis Andrei Illarionov on the air of the channel. “Ukraine 24”.

“… the economic, political, military, demographic potential does not allow the modern Russian Federation to even dream about it (victory in a new world war – Ed.)”, – said the interlocutor.

The expert believes that the leader of the Russian Federation is trying to cling to the old Yalta-Potsdam system of international relations, wants to restore the spheres of control and responsibility, but the world does not agree with this.

According to him, Putin understands that Russia will not win in a new world war, and therefore is making efforts to achieve a result by blackmail.

We will remind, Russia in 2014 went on aggression against Ukraine – it seized Crimea, and then broke into part of Donbass and supported the militants who created the so-called “DPR” and “LPR”. The West punished the Russian side for the aggression – sanctions were introduced.

In the fall of 2021, it became known that the Russian Federation had pulled together additional forces to the border with Ukraine.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, announced on November 21 that the Russian side had concentrated 92 thousand troops near the border with our state and prepares to invade in early 2022.

The Russian Federation claimed that they were not involved in the conflict in Donbass and were not preparing for an attack on Ukraine.

A number of Western countries have warned that in the event of Russian aggression against Ukraine, the Russian Federation will face new sanctions.
