Russian Army General Confirmed Killed in Ukraine

MOSCOW – Governor of St. Petersburg confirmed that a general Russia had died in the middle of the invasion of Ukraine honored him in a ceremony on Saturday as reported by Russian media.

Russian news agencies, citing the press service of the St. Petersburg, reported that Deputy commander of the 8th Army Major General Vladimir Petrovich Frolov was killed while fighting against Ukraine.

“Today we say goodbye to true heroes. Vladimir Petrovich Frolov died heroically in a battle with Ukrainian nationalists,” Governor Alexander Beglov was quoted as saying by Russia’s state news agency, Tass, citing the press service.

“He sacrificed his life so that the children, women, and the elderly in Donbas would no longer hear the explosions of the bombs. To stop waiting for death and leave the house, to say goodbye as if it was the last time.” The HillSunday (17/4/2022).

According to online media St. Petersburg, Fontanka, the Governor called Frolov a “true patriot” and “brave,” adding that he fulfilled his military and humanitarian duties.

Several other Russian generals and high-ranking military personnel are reportedly killed amid Russia’s ongoing invasion of its neighbours, including the deputy commander of the 41st Joint Army Central Military District Andrei Sukhovetsky; Major General Vitaly Gerasimov, Lieutenant General Yakov Rezantsev; and Colonel Sergei Sukharev, elite commander of the 331st Guards Airborne Regiment.

Russia, which failed in its initial attempt to seize Kiev, is now preparing itself for a new offensive in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned in an interview with Ukrainian media that negotiations between Russia and Ukraine could stall if Russia kills the remaining Ukrainian troops in Mariupol.
