According to the information, Azimut will operate flights on Superjet aircraft, which belong to Russian leasing companies and are not subject to sanctions prohibiting service at foreign airports.

On May 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin abolished the visa regime for Georgian citizens and at the same time lifted the ban on flights of Russian airlines to Georgia.

In recent months, representatives of the Russian Federation have repeatedly voiced statements about the possibility of restoring direct flights with Georgia. Georgia’s ruling party reacted favorably to such signals, while the opposition harshly criticized the potential resumption of flights at a time when the world, on the contrary, is limiting contacts and cooperation with Moscow due to the aggressive war against Ukraine.
