The facility was reportedly used by the anti-Israeli extremist group Hezbollah for “military and commercial purposes.”

According to SOHR and the Syrian state agency SANA, two people (a man and a woman) were injured as a result of the missile attack and received minor injuries.

Syria said the strike was carried out by Israeli aircraft from the Mediterranean Sea. The IDF traditionally does not comment on such messages.

Separately, it is noted that the shelling warning system did not work.

Edition NewsRu.co.il indicates that the city of al-Hamidiya is located near the Syrian port of Tartus, where the “logistic support point of the Russian Navy” is located. It is believed that thanks to this, Tartus is covered by the layered Russian air defense system, which includes the S-400 long-range interception and Tor-M2 and Pantsir-S1 short-range interception systems. However, none of these complexes was used to intercept missiles.

  • March 2022 reportedthat the Russian army tried to get reinforcements from mercenaries from Syria, including militants from the Islamist group Hezbollah.
