He noted that in recent weeks, several Russian politicians have made it very clear that they are not afraid to threaten a NATO member state.
“Today it is Lithuania. Before that, Poland was threatened because of the support of Ukraine. Estonia received, as I call them, passive threats literally today. Therefore, they are checking how the West can react, how we can react,” the minister said.
He believes that Kremlin mercenaries will not risk attacking a NATO country.
“Again, can he (Putin – ed.) wage war against NATO? I don’t think so. Can he test NATO? Yes, of course he can, he can test NATO. I would even go further and say that he could not just to protest, but also to break NATO,” the Lithuanian Foreign Minister said.
The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry believes that the Russian Federation will not dare to attack them if NATO’s actions are clear and fast.
“Unless NATO can find a fast enough and strong enough response to show that there are very clear and specific lines that it cannot cross. And we must be very clear on this. And this is what is happening now. This is reality” Landsbergis said.
