Russia withdraws FIFA-UEFA sanctions appeal

Lausanne

Russia cancel the appeal of the sanctions given FIFA and UEFA related to his work in football. It’s confirmed Court of Arbitration for Sport [CAS].

Russia has been banned from playing by FIFA and UEFA over the war they waged on Ukraine. Russia is banned from competing in all competitions, from club level to its national team.

Russian Football Union [FUR] then appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport or Court of Arbitration for Sport [CAS]. Russia appealed to FIFA, UEFA and several neighboring football federations boycotting them.

On March 18, CAS later rejected his appeal. Russia was later rumored to be filing another appeal against CAS’s refusal, but CAS confirmed Russia had withdrawn all of its appeals.

“On March 30, 2022, FUR informed the CAS Court office that it was withdrawing its appeal. This procedure will be terminated immediately,” CAS said in a statement.

The sanctions imposed by FIFA have prevented Russia from competing in all competitions. His national team had already been disqualified from the World Cup playoff against Poland, where Robert Lewandowski had already made sure of qualifying for the finals.

While at the club level, there are no Russian clubs participating on the European stage. Spartak Moscow have been removed from the Europa League.
